St Fiddle - Upcoming events block displays wrong date

I am having trouble getting the 'upcoming events' block in the sidebar of the Fiddle theme to display the correct date inside the calendar icon. I noticed this problem seems to exist in the Fiddle demo where the date in the sidebar does not match the date of the actual event.

Can you help troubleshoot this? or explain how to remove the calendar icon and wrong date in the block and display the date inline under the title.
