Question regarding modification of Conch theme.

Hi,

I have talked to you on drupal forum, and you have asked me to post here.

I would like to modify your theme so it would look similarly to the one I have on my site. www.ba-xian.co.cc.

The reason I would like to do it, is:
It was originally designed for joomla or wordpress, then someone ported it to drupal 5.x and I have ported it to drupal 6.x. The whole design is very buggy is visitor non friendly. Meaning you users don't have the option to change their configuration. When a post is made, who knows who made it or when it was posted, and it someone wants to modify it, you cant unless you are an admin. In other words its extremely buggy.

What I would like to do:

Since the design and layout are very similar, I would like just to change few borders and few images.

If you look at my site, you would see a right black border with what looks like a paper border to the left of it. I would like to make that as a border for every node on Conch theme on all 4 sides. So that It would look like medieval times.

The second thing I would like to change is if you look at my site you will see that there is a image heading for side menu, where it sais navigation and user login, I would like to make the same as a heading in all Conch navigation menus.

The third thing is the slide show, I love it, I wonder if it is possible to add buttons 1,2,3... for the number of slide shows, in case a user would like to stop and read one he could put the mouse of that number and the slide show would ever go there or stop at that slide.

I know I might be asking too much, but if you could suggest what I should do, how I should make the graphic look(i mean how should I crop it) and where should I change the Conch theme. That would be perfect.

Hi darksniperx

I know the quality of themes which are ported from Joomla or WP. They may look like what you see but never function like what you want. Moreover, if you port a Drupal 5.x theme to Drupal 6.x theme, it won't work because Drupal does not have backward compatibility.

As you know, ST Conch is a free theme, so you can use it freely for your sites, and if you have skills in Drupal customization, you can do anything you want.

Your requirements as you stated above will consist of a custom theme modification service and a custom installation serivce. If you agree, could you please use the Contact Form and send us your detailed requirments. Remember it's a hour based charge services.

Skill in Drupal customization

Hi Symphone,
I love your themes - thanks
I understand, that I  freely can costumize the cronch theme? I am about to make a city site www.saqqaa.info where i will put all the informations about the city. But I will rather use white or light blue background. It's means that I will change the background also type color - in the CSS file. That's only those i will change.
Sincerely
Muggie

Hi, I need to know how to

Hi,

I need to know how to customize themes my self. My post above just mentioned things that I would like to do. I will start the modification, and If I have any questions I will post them here.

Thank you!

Hi darksniperx, As we stated

Hi darksniperx,

As we stated above, modification is a paid service.

We have provided ST Conch as a rich feature theme, and if you have Drupal skills, you can easily customize it. However we can't support every single person asking for guide to customize this free theme.

Hi, I don't know if you meant

Hi,

I don't know if you meant can or can't. I don't have amazing skills on modifying drupal themes, I am in the process of learning. I cant rely on others to do my job, once I do one and I get a hand of it I should be fine. I just asked if I could get some advice in case I get stuck. I am not asking you to do the modifications for me.

"Can" should be "Can't"

Sorry, the correct sentence should be "we can't support every single person asking for guide to customize this free theme".

As you know, this theme is free, and we just support for bugs reported by users.

Things like customizing should be your own research, we cannot support every person that come and say how do I modify this, how do I make it look like that. It's beyond our commitment.

Even if you purchase a non free theme, we support for bugs (our responsibilities), NOT modification (your responsibilities).

Cheers
