I need to setup Default front page: to story (http://localhost/drupalsite/story) but I am getting
The path 'story' is either invalid or you do not have access to it.
Any pointers?

You can go to admin/settings/site-information, scroll down to the bottom, "Default front page", then enter "story" as you want.

The reason it was giving me the error was b/c I forgot to import the 'Story' views. After doing that it worked fine.

There isn't story path. If you want to display all nodes of story, you have create a view and fillter nodes of story.
